One of the most common questions we get asked before a purchase is: "How does delivery work?" It's a fair question — furniture is a big item, and the delivery experience can make or break the whole thing. Here's an honest, practical guide to what you can expect when you order clearance furniture from Quality Furniture Clearance.
Do you deliver fully assembled?
In most cases, yes. The majority of our clearance pieces — particularly ex-display items — are delivered fully assembled. This is one of the genuine advantages of buying clearance over flat-pack: the furniture has already been built, so it arrives ready to place in your room.
Where assembly is required (for example, some factory second or failed delivery items that have been partially disassembled for transport), this will be clearly noted in the product listing. We never leave you guessing.
What areas do you deliver to?
We offer nationwide delivery across the UK. Whether you're in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, or anywhere in between, we can get your furniture to you. Delivery timescales and costs may vary by location — check the product listing or get in touch for a specific quote if you're in a more remote area.
How is the furniture transported?
Large furniture items are transported by specialist two-person delivery teams. This means:
- Your furniture is handled carefully throughout the journey
- Two-person teams can manage heavy, bulky items safely
- Items are typically brought into your home to the ground floor room of your choice
We don't use standard parcel couriers for furniture — these items need specialist handling, and that's what we provide.
What about access and space?
Before your delivery, it's worth thinking about access. Large furniture — particularly wardrobes and dining tables — can be challenging to manoeuvre through narrow hallways, tight stairwells, or low doorways.
We recommend:
- Measuring your doorways and hallways before ordering, not just the room space
- Checking stairwell widths if the item needs to go upstairs
- Clearing a path from your front door to the destination room before the delivery team arrives
- Measuring the room to confirm the piece will fit comfortably with space to open doors and drawers
If you're unsure whether a specific piece will fit your access, contact us with your measurements and we'll advise.
What if there's a problem on delivery?
We describe and photograph every item honestly before listing, so you know exactly what you're getting. However, if something arrives that doesn't match the description, or if there's any damage that occurred in transit, contact us immediately. We'll work quickly to resolve it.
It's worth doing a quick inspection of the piece when it arrives and before the delivery team leaves, so any issues can be noted on the spot.
How long will delivery take?
Delivery timescales vary depending on your location and current stock. Because we're selling clearance items — one-off pieces rather than warehouse stock — we aim to get items delivered promptly once an order is placed. Specific timescales will be confirmed at the point of order.
One of the advantages of clearance furniture over ordering new is that you're not waiting 8–16 weeks for a factory order — what you see is what's available, and it can be with you much sooner.
Can I collect in person?
If you'd prefer to collect rather than have delivery, get in touch to arrange this. Collection can be a good option if you have your own transport and want to save on delivery costs, or if you simply want to see the piece in person before committing.
Tips for a smooth delivery day
- Confirm your contact details are correct so the delivery team can reach you
- Be available on the day — failed deliveries are one of the reasons clearance stock exists in the first place
- Clear the destination room so the team can place the furniture without obstacles
- Have a second pair of hands available if you need to move existing furniture to make space
- Inspect on arrival and flag any concerns before the team leaves
